With almost 200 meters in length, this wreck is one of the largest you can find. It is almost completely intact and there are many tours through the different rooms of the ship. One dive is by far not enough to explore it all. Many artifacts can still be found. Pottery, pans, boxes of ammunition, anti-tank guns as well as many small bottles and other small items. There are many WWII relics such as jeeps, helmets, tanks and mess kits still stored in the wreck. The most important sight is probably the Lady. This statue of Elizabeth, about 1 meter of height and 0.6 meter of width, is still located above the fireplace in one of the first classes lounges.

The ship was made in October 1931 well ahead of schedule and used by transporting troops in World War II. In October 1942 it entered the harbor of Santo. Here it was hit by two mines, continuing for about three more mile to reach the shore of Espiritu Santo. Here all people but two got off, before she slid down the reef an hour later.

There is also a lot of marine life of course. Safety stops are often taken on the nearby reef, where anglerfish, octopi, and a 300 pound grouper can be found. Boris is his name and many dive tours feed it, hence its size.

The Coolidge is to date one of the BEST wreck dives around, its deep 20 to 60mts, so get some dives up before you do this site, although the local operators will take virtually anybody( bit concerning) The night dive is a MUST do, plan a week at least because youll need it to cover this wreck alone. enjoy leave only bubbles, and dive safe.
